Dr. Atwood has served as pastor of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive since 2003. He has also served churches in Missouri, Louisiana, and Mississippi. He received his B.A. from Mississippi College, Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry degree from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Atwood has also completed post-doctoral studies at Duke University Divinity School.
He has had numerous articles and sermons published. Dennis is the author of two books: Words That Shape and Form: A 40 Day Journey in Spiritual Formation, 2008, and Deep Faith: Invitation to a Deeply Rooted Life, 2014. He has also served as Adjunct Instructor of Religion at the University of Mount Olive. He is married to Ann and they have three young adult sons. He enjoys playing golf, hunting, Duke basketball, and helping people connect with God and one another. Check out the Pastor’s blog.
Rev. Wil Worley
Assoc. Pastor of Students and Families
Rev. Wil Worley joined the staff of First Baptist Church in the Fall of 2018. He holds a Master’s Degree in Christian Education from Gardner-Webb Divinity School, Gardner-Webb University. While in attending, Wil collaborated with fellow students in the planning, promotion, and presentation of youth retreats for other churches in the baptist denomination. Wil and his family came to First Baptist Church from Viewmont Baptist Church in Hickory, NC where he served as the Pastor of Youth and Media from 2013-2018.
Wil has been married to his wife, Denise for over 20 years and the two of them have five children plus two grandchildren. His interests include history, reading, travel, exploring new places, a number of sports (including golf, football, basketball, and soccer), a love for classic movies, and the versatility to appreciate multiple musical styles.

Joshua joined the staff in 2017. He had served as a music intern with FBC MO, holds a degree in music from the University of Mount Olive and a Masters in Church Music from Lee University.
